As a Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate & Investment Banking - Check Disbursement Systems Team, you lead multiple teams and manage day-to-day implementation activities by identifying and escalating issues and ensuring your team's work adheres to compliance standards, business requirements, and tactical best practices.

Job responsibilities
  • Provides guidance to immediate team of software engineers on daily tasks and activities
  • Sets the overall guidance and expectations for team output, practices, and collaboration
  • Anticipates dependencies with other teams to deliver products and applications in line with business requirements
  • Manages stakeholder relationships and the team's work in accordance with compliance standards, service level agreements, and business requirements
  • Creates a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect for the team members and prioritizes diverse representation
  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
  • Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience
  • Experience leading technology projects and managing technologists in teams up to 7 people, including performance evaluations
  • Proficient in automation and continuous delivery methods
  • Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
  • Experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and expertise in technology disciplines
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Advanced in one or more programming language(s), Java, proficiency in Typescript, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and modern front end technologies - React (The skills can be added to the existing req)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
  • Practical cloud native experience Architecture, Microservice Architecture and related stacks, and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Experience with code testability and test automation, JUnit/Mockito, Gherkin with Cucumber.
  • AWS experience is a plus
